London-based charity Careers Development Group (CDG) will be working with 60,000 people, often facing multiple barriers to work, to help them find and stay in long-term employment. The software, developed by Belfast-based company ICONI Software, will assist CDG in managing each individual’s journey between their first referral and the ultimate end goal of finding and securing long-term employment.

Liam Jordan, Managing Director of ICONI Software, said that the employability tracking software will be critical to supporting the ‘outcomes-based’ programme with the aim of reducing the number of people claiming unemployment benefits and increasing opportunities for sustainable employment. He explains:

“To put the contract in context, the solution that we are delivering will increase the efficiency and the effectiveness of placing 60,000 people back into work which represents more than the total number of people currently claiming unemployment benefit in Northern Ireland. The new system will utilise ICONI Software’s successful Employability Manager Framework which can fully track an individual’s journey to work, manage all related financial transactions and provide CDG and their delivery partners with a holistic view of this journey.

Our work with Careers Development Group to deliver an employability tracking solution will ensure transparency and increase effectiveness in ensuring long-term employment opportunities.”

Phil East of Careers Development Group said:

“We are delivering a major back-to-work project, with many people embarking on a journey to re-enter the workforce. Using ICONI’s sophisticated software, we will track and manage this process to ensure that we can support thousands of people finding and securing sustainable employment.”

ICONI Software is a successful Invest NI export company, with seventy per cent of its turnover generated outside Northern Ireland. Over the last five years the company has seen significant growth in the Management Information System (MIS) markets, leading to the demand for provision of Enterprise Management Solutions. for further information on ICONI’s Employability solutions see: ICONI Employability Manager

CDG is a leading welfare to work charity with nearly 30 years’ experience in helping those who are unemployed find and sustain employment. Many of the people CDG supports have multiple barriers to employment including a lack of recent work experience, disabilities, health problems and a lack of relevant employability skills. CDG supported 27,000 people on their journey into work in 2010/11.

ICONI Software has launched a sophisticated Fund Management System on behalf of the Northern Ireland Memorial Fund (NIMF), an independent charitable fund that seeks to promote peace and reconciliation by ensuring that individuals and families that have suffered as a result of the ‘Troubles’ in Northern Ireland are remembered.

ICONI Software led the design of a specialist software system which allows the NIMF to manage the support applications from victims of the Troubles in Northern Ireland. The system is already proving successful having processed over £1 million worth of awards within the first few weeks of launch.

The new system is built on ICONI’s Fund Manager Product, which has been fully configured to mirror NIMF’s operational stages such as applications, assessments and subsequent payments and will also help manage the new ‘means tested’ assessment criteria which has recently received OFMDFM approval.

Liam Jordan, Managing Director of ICONI Software, added: “We have invested a lot of time and resources to develop our unique software so that it can be tailored to meet the specific needs of organisations such as the Northern Ireland Memorial Fund. We are currently expanding the team to deal with the growing interest in our products and services not only in Northern Ireland but also across Scotland, England and Wales.”

Carolyn Mada, Fund Secretary at the Northern Ireland Memorial Fund, added: “ICONI’s online management solution has provided NIMF with an extremely efficient fund management system which was easily configured to manage every one of our operational stages. This allowed us to get on with the important job of supporting individuals and families that have suffered as a result of the Troubles in Northern Ireland. The new system has been in use for just over a month and has already processed a significantly increased level of applications using the new system, which would have been impossible beforehand.”

The new system has innovative features including online linkages with NIMF suppliers, which will reduce application processing times and introduce efficiency savings across all aspects of NIMF support.

As part of the implementation, ICONI Software worked with local IT company, New CMI who delivered the network infrastructure and hardware for the new system.

The MIS also directly links with the new website to manage all event bookings and to provide an online directory of member organisations. Both the website and MIS are built on ICONI Software’s web framework which has been used widely across the UK and Ireland by organisations involved in business support. ICONI Software worked closely with their web design partners, Eyesparks to create the visual designs required for the new corporate website.

Owner and MD of ICONI Software, Liam Jordan, said: “Having developed a number of Management Information Systems for similar business development and support organisations we were able to use our skills and experience to deliver an effective and easy to use system which would help the Northern Ireland Chamber of Commerce to support its members. We also worked with experienced and creative web design company, Eyesparks to create a website which appeals to members and provides all the tools required to communicate with a range of users.”

Ann McGregor, CEO of the Northern Ireland Chamber of Commerce, added: “This new system has greatly improved how the Chamber works and is helping us to deliver a quality service to our members across Northern Ireland. With an improved website design our communication will also improve and we hope members will be encouraged to use the new website to look for information, guidance and support.”

Liam said, “It is a great privilege to be nominated for this award and it is a reflection on the hard work we’ve been doing over the past year. As a Northern Ireland company which boasts over 70% of our turnover in GB, I can’t think of a better award to be associated with.”
