ICONI supports the UK IT Challenge for Disabled Young People
Published 3rd July 2019
We are delighted to announce that ICONI is supporting the UK IT Challenge, a 3 day event hosted by Shaw Trust and run in partnership with BT.
Taking place at BT Adastral Park in Ipswich from 3rd to 5th July, the event will see up to 50 disabled young people from across the UK taking part in a series of fun of IT challenges, designed to test ability, creativity and skill using different computer programmes.
A panel of judges will assess the challenges, and make awards and prizes to individuals and teams. At the end of the event, the four best individual performers will be selected to represent the UK at the Global IT Challenge for Youth With Disabilities, which takes place in Korea in November 2019. Over 300 young people from 24 countries are expected to attend the event, which was designed to reduce the ‘digital disability divide’ and provide increased access and investment in ICT, to help promote IT policy and training and create a truly inclusive world where no-one is left behind.
To help support the UK event, ICONI have donated prizes which include laptop, four Echo Dots and an iTunes gift voucher. ICONI Managing Director Liam Jordan commented:
“We are really pleased to be able to support this initiative, hosted by our long-standing customer, Shaw Trust. As a software development company, we are firm believers in the importance of IT skills in our increasingly technology-focused lives. IT challenges like this, which promote inclusivity and challenge disabled young people to learn new skills and to consider new possibilities for their futures, are so important. We wish the very best of luck to everyone taking part in the UK event, and to the final four who are chosen to represent the UK in Korea.”
