Today, 15th April 2016 is the first national UK Employability Day, highlighting and celebrating the work of organisations that help jobseekers to move towards or into work. Coordinated by the Employment Related Services Association (ERSA), the day is being marked by employment support providers up and down the UK to celebrate the work of their local staff and jobseekers.
Today is an opportunity for the whole employment support sector to show what employment support means at the frontline and the impact it is having. It aims to coordinate activity across the country as part of a UK-wide event, in turn sharing activities with local press and other media. It is being celebrated by employment support providers opening their doors with nearly 80 businesses across England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland showing the impact their work has within their communities. ERSA’s Chief Executive, Kirsty McHugh talks about the importance of raising awareness around this day: “Truly exceptional work is taking place across the UK by organisations in the employment support sector, yet not enough is understood about its real impacts. Employability Day is an opportunity for frontline experts to demonstrate the work that takes place in their local communities, from running wellbeing sessions to delivering skills qualifications, and encourage the wider community, friends, families and employers to join together and help their local teams and the jobseekers they support.”
Here at ICONI, we are very proud to get behind UK Employability Day as many of our Customers are involved in frontline Employability support.
