Using CEP to Support Mental Health

As an active supporter of organisations that help improve people’s lives, ICONI is delighted to have the opportunity to partner with the national charity Shaw Trust to help deliver their Live Well Kent Initiative, a programme that aims to improve the mental and physical health of individuals.
Mental Health is a topic that is high up in the UK’s current political agenda, with Theresa May recently pledging to help schools and companies in England deal with the “hidden injustice” of mental illness.
Mrs May’s speech comes as she outlines her plans to create a “shared society” where she promises to “transform” attitudes to mental health problems.
Poor mental health has a profound impact on people’s lives and can affect their ability to sustain relationships, employment or just get through the day. Mental health has been disregarded as secondary to physical health and this needs to change.
With mental health services in the UK being overstretched, often with long waiting times and, in some regions, a lack of specialist services, the availability of local programmes such as Live Well Kent are crucial in the fight for improved mental wellbeing.
